Terms of use and data license
Using this site#
You may read, print and link to any page. Quoting a short excerpt with a link back is welcome. Republishing whole pages, or feeding the site wholesale into a mirror, is not permitted. Automated crawling is fine at a reasonable rate.
Data license#
Datasets published under /data/ (the Local Control Index, the border router directory, the Matter feature tracker and the protocol reference tables) are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
That means you may copy, adapt and redistribute them, including commercially, provided you credit "Smart Living Web" and link to the page you took the data from. If you modify a dataset, say so, so that your changes are not attributed to us.
No warranty, and the limits of this advice#
The information here is provided as is. Smart home behavior depends on firmware versions, regional variants, network conditions and vendor decisions that change without notice. We check our facts and date our pages, and we still cannot guarantee that a page matches the device in your hand today.
Specifically:
- Electrical work. Pages about switches, dimmers and neutral wires describe how the technology works. Wiring a mains device is regulated work in most places. Use a qualified electrician.
- Security and access. Locks, cameras and alarms are risk decisions. Nothing here is a security assessment of your property.
- Life safety. Smart smoke, heat and carbon monoxide detection must be certified equipment installed to local code. Do not rely on a general purpose sensor and an automation for life safety.
To the extent permitted by law, Smart Living Web is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of this site.
Trademarks#
Matter, Thread, Zigbee, Z-Wave and all product and company names are trademarks of their respective owners, used here for identification and comparison. Their use does not imply affiliation or endorsement in either direction.
